Magic Kingdom
Castle Forecourt
The Cinderella Castle Forecourt expansion project at Magic Kingdom was a significant enhancement to one of Disney’s most iconic landmarks. The project focused on improving accessibility, functionality, and aesthetics around the castle, with key elements including the addition of turret tech booths and refurbishing the stage to include ramps.
Fortress of Sound: Turrets with a Technical Twist
As part of the expansion, new turret structures were added around the castle forecourt area. These booths were designed to blend seamlessly with the existing castle architecture, styled to match the medieval fantasy theme. However, they serve a practical purpose, housing technical equipment for audio, lighting, and show control, essential for Disney’s entertainment productions, including parades and stage shows. These additions allow for better technical support without distracting from the visual experience of the castle.
Ramping Up the Magic: A Stage Fit for All
The stage in front of Cinderella Castle, used for various performances and shows, was refurbished to include ramps, improving accessibility for performers and enhancing the overall design to accommodate a wider range of needs. The ramps were integrated into the existing stage structure, allowing for smooth transitions and maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the space. This change made it possible for performers using mobility devices to participate in shows, while also allowing easier movement of stage equipment during performances.
