Brevard County Hiking and Equestrian Trails
Commissioned by Brevard County Parks and Recreation, Mr. Perry, as the project manager and lead landscape architect, led the development of the South Brevard Trails and Equestrian Master Plan. This comprehensive master plan aimed to enhance the county’s recreational infrastructure by creating an interconnected network of trails designed to serve both equestrian and pedestrian users. The project required a thoughtful approach to integrating trails with the existing landscape while ensuring accessibility and safety for all users.
Trailblazing: Mapping, Ecology, and Landowner Harmony
Perry Becker Design (PBD) provided a wide range of services to support the master plan, including a detailed field inventory and mapping of multiple trail alignments. This process involved an in-depth environmental analysis to identify sensitive areas and ensure that the proposed trails would not negatively impact local ecosystems. Additionally, a private property analysis was conducted to determine land ownership boundaries and mitigate any potential conflicts with landowners, ensuring smooth project implementation.
Safeguarding South Brevard Trails: A Focus on Safety, Costs, and Sustainability
Safety was a key concern in the design of the South Brevard Trails. PBD conducted a comprehensive safety analysis that identified potential hazards along the trail alignments and provided recommendations for mitigation measures. The team also performed a detailed construction costing programming analysis, estimating project costs to ensure the plan aligned with the county’s budget. A projected maintenance analysis was included to help Brevard County anticipate long-term upkeep needs, ensuring the trails remain sustainable and functional for years to come.
