Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Resort is a tropical paradise located within Walt Disney World Resort, offering guests an immersive experience that captures the vibrant charm and relaxed atmosphere of the South Pacific. With its lush landscapes, stunning water features, and iconic Polynesian-inspired architecture, the resort transports visitors to an island escape, blending modern comfort with authentic cultural elements. Guests can enjoy themed dining, luxurious accommodations, and a range of recreational activities, all designed to provide an unforgettable, family-friendly experience steeped in Disney magic.
Creating A New South Seas Look
Walt Disney Imagineering enlisted Perry | Becker Design to spearhead a comprehensive redesign of the Polynesian Resort hotel entry and guest arrival experience for one of Disney’s most iconic resorts at Walt Disney World. The focus was on crafting a vibrant tropical ambiance at the entrance of the Great Ceremonial Hall.
Central to the overhaul was the creation of a striking new water feature, meticulously sculpted and painted to resemble cooled magma. Surrounding plantings were thoughtfully selected and arranged to cultivate a lush and colorful entryway, setting the stage for a warm welcome into the Polynesian Resort lobby. Designed as a decompression zone, the area utilizes the soothing sounds of cascading waterfalls and an intricately planned landscape to seamlessly transport guests from the hustle of Central Florida to the serene charm of the Polynesian Islands.

Project Story
Monorail Makeover: Turning a Polynesian Paradise Upside Down
Initially, the plan was to renovate only the monorail station, leaving the ground-level features untouched. However, due to necessary foundation work, it became clear that a full redesign of the area below was needed. The existing water feature, pathways, and landscape were completely removed, allowing for a fresh and enhanced design. This reimagined space now seamlessly complements the station, creating a more cohesive and inviting environment for visitors.
