Port of Progreso Waterpark
Scheduled to begin in late 2024 and aiming for completion by 2026, this project will transform the Port of Progreso into an immersive “Island Experience.”
An Immersive Mexican Experience Without Leaving the Dock
Drawing upon PBD’s vast expertise in Cruise Port Facilities and Hospitality/Resort design, the firm was entrusted with leading the design team for the redevelopment and master planning of a novel cruise destination “Island Experience”. Embracing a thematic approach, PBD’s vision revolves around providing cruise passengers and guests with an immersive journey through Mexico’s rich history, distinctive architecture, and breathtaking natural landscapes.
Immersive Mexico: From Historic Towns to Cenotes and Waterfalls
The experience begins with guests traversing a picturesque historic hill town adorned with striking Spanish colonial architecture, culminating in the striking focal point of an ancient Mayan pyramid, preserved as an archaeological ruin. From this point of entry, guests are seamlessly transported into the captivating world of Mexico’s cenote environment, where they can explore natural water formations and lush jungle surroundings. Offering opportunities for swimming amidst cascading waterfalls, tranquil pools, and a meandering lazy river, visitors find themselves enveloped in the vibrant tapestry of tropical landscapes.
